South America by Lewis Napper Jackson has just had another murder. The newscaster called it another drug related crime. I thought that when we all laughed and winked at each other over a Dragnet joke, that we all secretly understood. But no, the beat goes on -- another drug related crime. Mule fritters! It wasn't another drug related crime. It was another drug prohibition related crime. Two helpless, hapless, morally bankrupt idiots got into a fight over who was gonna make the big bucks that day selling crack. The slightly more intelligent of the two shot the dumber one dead as a doorknob. Good riddance. Let me buy the next round! These guys aren't killing each other because they're high on cocaine. They're killing each other because they're high on selling cocaine. There is almost no crime because someone is taking dope. Almost all of the crime is because someone is selling dope. Gangsters are killing each other over the right to sell dope. Cops are killing gangsters because they're selling dope. Gangsters are killing cops because the cops are trying to make them stop selling dope. The real crime is not in taking drugs -- that's just stupid and stupidity isn't a crime yet. The real crime is in the fight over the money! The real crime is creating this unbelievably lucrative market for illegal drugs. Yes, junkies are committing crimes to get money to buy dope. One of the local dopers broke into our house and stole 2 VCR's and some jewelry. I know I'm shallow, but this guy wasn't a problem for me when he was taking drugs. He became a problem to me when he broke into my house. Stop and think about it. This guy didn't want our possessions -- he wanted some crack. He's not addicted to breaking into houses -- he's addicted to cocaine. I say let him have it. It's much easier to produce than a VCR. I just don't understand why we continue to spend our money; risk the lives of good police officers and throw away our civil rights on this ridiculous, futile, never-ending War on Drugs. We've been at it for almost 30 years now and any sober person can see that it simply is not working. What makes it even more ludicrous is that it's just not necessary. The penalty for taking dope should simply be the effects of taking dope. Nothing more. Left to it's own end, taking dope seeks out perfect justice. We're turning really dangerous criminals out onto the street to make room for someone who may have done nothing more than smoke a damn weed! By the Justice departments own statistics, over half the prison population is there on drug charges. They admit that about 61% of these are petty drug offenders! And we're letting child molesters out to get these people off the street? Stop the world. I want to get off! If you really want to get rid of dope forever; LEGALIZE IT! All flavors! Take the profit motive out of it. Anyone insane enough to be doing this stuff should be able to buy a pickup load with a hand full of change. Better yet, if it were legal, we could get congress to regulate and tax it into oblivion. They can make any industry disappear. |
