I Declare (and
you should too)
by Lewis NapperAfter reading the
Declaration of Independence, I have only one thing to say,
"yeah, what he said."
Thomas Jefferson said, "WE hold
these Truths to be self-evident".
I say, "Here's a list of stuff that's obvious."
| Tom: |
"that all Men
are created equal" |
| Lewis: |
"No one is
more important than anyone else. That includes
presidents, movie stars, and everybody." |
| |
|
| Tom: |
"that they are endowed by
their Creator with certain inalienable Rights" |
| Lewis: |
"Everybody is born with
basic human rights that can't be given away or
taken away. Not even when it's for their own good." |
| |
|
| Tom: |
"that among these are" |
| Lewis: |
"Some of the rights
everybody has are: (in order of importance)" |
| |
|
| Tom: |
"Life" |
| Lewis: |
"The right to not be
killed. Not killed by the private sector. Not
killed by the public sector." |
| |
|
| Tom: |
"Liberty" |
| Lewis: |
"The right to be free
from confinement, servitude, or forced labor.
That's what the American Heritage Dictionary says.
Only those people who infringe on the rights of
others lose these liberties. Everyone else keeps
them." |
| |
|
| Tom: |
"and the Pursuit of
Happiness" |
| Lewis: |
"The right to do as you
please. As long as you don't interfere with
anyone else's right to do as they please." |
| |
|
| Tom: |
"That to secure these
Rights, Governments are instituted among Men" |
| Lewis: |
"The only job of
government is to protect everyone's rights. The
only job of government is to protect everyone's
rights. The only job of government is to protect
everyone's rights." |
| |
|
| Tom: |
"deriving their just
Powers from the Consent of the Governed" |
| Lewis: |
"The government gets its
rights from the people, not the other way around." |
